The competition of the postgraduate teams is focused on how to seismically upgrade the benchmark model which is designed as a traditional two-story building. On the first day of the contest, all postgraduate teams have to construct their own benchmark models according to the provided specifications. Then, the constructed benchmark model should be submitted to the judge for qualification and to be weighted. After that, each team is encouraged to use his great originality to improve the performance of the benchmark model. Finally, the improved model system should again be qualified and weighted. On the next day, each team should bring the qualified model to join the seismic-resistant contest. During the seismic-resistant contest, all the qualified model systems as well as an IDEERS benchmark model will be tested on the shaking table. The intensity of excitation will be increased step by step, and the most-efficient model system will win the competition.
